مما يعين على الحفظ تكرار المحفوظ، فإذا حفظ الطالب متناً أو مقطعاً من متن في أي فن من الفنون، فإن مما يعينه على تثبيته ودوام حفظه تكراره.
قال البخاري رحمه الله لما سُئل هل من دواء للحفظ؟ فقال:"لا أعلم شيئاً أنفع للحفظ من نهمة الرجل، ومداومة النظر"

وقال الخطيب البغدادي رحمه الله:" وليس يثبت الحفظ إلا دوام المذاكرة بالمحفوظ، ثم نقل قول الزهري:" إنما يُذهب العلم النسيان وترك المذاكرة"
